The outstanding case board is the command center of Apoms. Here the current status of all outstanding emergency cases can be seen, allowing users to rapidly get an overview of all rescues and releases in progress.
The outstanding case board displays both rescue and release cases and you can read more about their process here.
Cases come into the board in the Received state before progressing through the other rescue states, such as ambulance arrived, before an outcome is finally entered for the case. As soon as an outcome is entered for a case, it then disappears from the outstanding case board .
Cases are split in to Received and Assigned. The received cases are yet to be assigned and sit in their own area. Assigned cases go into an ambulance section. Each ambulance section refers to one vehicle that currently has cases assigned to it.
When cases are first entered into Apoms it may not yet be known if they will progress on to needing ambulance attendance. Some cases can be resolved over the phone with a small amount of assistance from the emergency dispatch team. For cases that do require an ambulance the below process is followed:
Received: When a case is not yet assigned to an ambulance it will appear in the Received column at the far left of the outstanding case board.
Assigned: When a case is assigned to an ambulance it will appear in that ambulance section in the Assigned column
Arrived/Picked Up: This column is for rescues where the ambulance has arrived on scene and releases where the ambulance has arrived at the shelter to pick up the patient for release.
Rescued/Released: This section is for rescues where the rescue time has been entered, and releases where the release time has been entered.
Admitted: This section is for animals that have an outcome of admission and are yet to reach the shelter. There is still a chance that the patient might die before reaching the shelter, so they need to remain on the board until the point of admission.
Cases are progressed across the board by updating either the rescue details of the case or the release details of the case. This can be done directly from the outstanding case board by clicking on the relevant icon:
The outstanding case board has a number of features built into the header:
Case search box: You can type any search criteria into this search box and any matching cases will expand and change to a different colour to signify they match the search. Say there are 2 emergency cases, one with the emergency number 1234 and the other with the tag number A1234. Searching for 123 highlight both cases as they both contain matching information.
Case filter: Here it is possible to select search criteria in order to actually filter the list down, this works slightly differently to the search as cases will be excluded form the outstanding case board that do not match the filter.. Users can search bases upon ambulance action (rescue or release), the emergency code, and the animal type.
Auto-update toggle: This feature toggles whether the outstanding case board will be updated automatically. Apoms has the ability to send and receive updates based upon actions taken place within the system. For instance where a driver updates the rescue time of a case their device will send a message that will be delivered to everyone else using Apoms at the time and can automatically update the outstanding case board.
Outstanding case map: This button will display the outstanding case map. You can read more about that in the outstanding case map section.
Each ambulance that is assigned that day will appear on the emergency case board. Each ambulance will have its own display box containing a list of the cases that are currently assigned to it. The ambulance section header displays useful information about the ambulance itself and the patients that are currently on board:
Current patients on board: This is split into small animals (S) and large animals (L). This figure shows the number of patients of each type that are currently in the ambulance.
Vehicle capacity: This figure is also split into small animals (S) and large animals (L). This is the capacity of the vehicle as defined in the vehicle list.
Map: Clicking this button will display the current location of the vehicle on a map.
