The treatment lists list all patients currently at the shelter and split them up by area making it easy for you to track and treat each patient, each day.
The treatment lists are kept up to date automatically as patients are brought into the shelter and then when their treatment finishes. Patients can be shifted from one area to another from within the treatment lists themselves and changes on one client area automatically messaged to other clients meaning multiple users working on the same treatment list at the same time will always have the latest data without the need for manual refreshes.
The treatment lists receive patients by admission or moved in, and shifts patients by moving out or updating the patient status to released/died. Move out requests can also be rejected by other areas if a patient is not actually shifted, or is rejected by the other area.
The uppermost section of the treatment list contains the Treatment area selector and the date selector. There is also the print button for printing a single treatment list and the refresh button, which will load the latest values from the database.
When selecting another date the treatment list for that day will be rebuilt.
Ordering: The treatment list is currently ordered descending by treatment priority, i.e. Urgent priority first - No treat last.
Treated: Users can press the treated button to add a treatment for the current day for the patient. Pressing the treatment button will display a form that will allow for entry of treatment details or reload treatment details that have already been entered for that day.
The next treatment date field can be used for planning future treatments.
Scores for eye and nasal discharge can be given along with comments about the treatment.
After a treatment has been added, the treatment button will turn into a tick in a green circle to signify that treatment has already taken place:
Tag number: Clicking on the tag number will take you to the patient's page in the Hospital Manager.
Treatment priority: This dropdown allows users to select the treatment priority for a patient. Upon changing the treatment priority the patient will shift to its new place in the treatment list. for instance, if a patient is currently set to high priority and then this is changed to low priority the patient will move to the low priority section of the list.
Rel./Died: Clicking the calendar icon will open the patient status dialog and allow the user to entre the patient status and patient status date. If a status of died/released is entered then the treatment list will show released or died in place of the calendar. However, clicking released/died will still open the patient status dialog.
Moved out: Patients are moved out by selecting one of the quick select radio buttons or by selecting an area from the Other dropdown box. The treatment list will then automatically move the patient to the treatment list in the requested area and the patient will show up as a moved in record. The cancel a moved out request, simply select the blank area from the Other dropdown.
The below record has been shifted to A Kennel as the A Kennel quick select radio button is checked. On the right hand side you can see the tick in a green circle signifying that the record has been saved and will now appear in A Kennel.
Patient Details: Further information about the patient can be viewed and updated by pressing the down chevron on the far right hand side of the record
When the more details chevron is pressed the patient details are then shown. The user can then update the patient details and hit the blue save button at the bottom right. The patient details can be closed by pressing the upward pointing chevron.
Movements
Admission: When a new case is admitted to the shelter the dispatcher must add the admission area. This is the area to which the patient was first moved immediately after arriving at the shelter upon rescue. Without adding the admission are the case will still be in the outstanding state and will still appear on the outstanding case board.
The treatment priority of admissions is not set as these patients are yet to be assessed by medical staff.
Ad admission to an area
Moved In: This is where a patient was shifted from another area to the current area. The manager in the other area has selected Move Out on this patient and it has automatically appeared in the target area's treatment list as a Moved In. The current area manager then has the option to accept the move in, if the animal is indeed moved in. Or they can reject the move if the patient didn't actually move, or if the move is rejected for any reason, for instance moving a cow to a dog area would result in a rejection.
The moved in record shows the area that the patient is moving from, in the below case, this is B Kennel. The tag number and treatment priority are displayed, as well as the accept and reject buttons.
Rejections: When a patient did not move to an area or is not accepted into that are the moved in/admission record can be rejected.
Should an admission be rejected it is removed from the list and the Admission Area is cleared in the add case form. This will result in the case re-appearing on the outstanding case board.
When a moved in record is rejected it is removed from the current list and then appears in the original treatment list from where it was moved.
Rejections will display the area that rejected the move in red. The accept button accepts the patient back into the current area. The Move out button allows the current area manager to shift the patient out once more.
E.g.
Dog DA808 has a small wound so is shifted from B Kennel to A Kennel, which specialises in large wounds. Upon arrival it is determined by the A Kennel manager that the wound is too small for admission to A Kennel, at which time the manager rejects the move request. The patient then appears in the B Kennel list as a rejection. The B Kennel manager speaks to the A Kennel manager and can either accept the patient back into B Kennel or can try another area, for instance C Kennel which specialises in small wounds.
Rejections will appear as the below:
