A release occurs when a patient no longer requires full time treatment in the shelter. This could be a full release where the patient is fully healed or a partial release where the patient is released to StreetTreat for further scheduled treatments.
There are a number of types of release:
Standard release
Release with special instructions
Release with specific staff
StreetTreat release
Release with StreetTreat
A release consists of a number of details:
The requester (who requested the release). This field is auto-populated with the name of the logged in user, but you can select any release coordinator.
Request time
Caller special instructions. Notes for a the caller can always be added, but 'special instructions' can be a type of release where release staff are required to pass on special instructions to the caller upon release. Selecting this slide toggle will ensure that the notes for caller section is required.
Specific staff. This is to be used where specific release staff are to be used for the release. For instance where the releaser was also the person who rescued the patient, so knows the release area or residents well.
StreetTreat staff release. This is where the release must be carried out by StreetTreat staff, this would generally coincide with a StreetTreat visit on the day of release. Which would allow the StreetTreat staff to carry out the visit at the time of release.
StreetTreat details. A StreetCase can be added to a release, this can either be tied to the release itself (a StreetTreat release) or added afterwards. You can add the details of the StreetTreat case here as well as any visits. The StreetTreat case will be assigned to the default StreetTreat team.
Caller details. This is the details of the caller from the Emergency Case
Caller informed. Whether the caller has already been informed about the release
For a release to take place the patient must be admitted to the shelter first. Only then will it be possible to add a new release. You can add a new release from the Hospital Manager or Emergency Register search screen. The details of which are outlined in the steps below.
STEP 1: Find the patient that is to be released
You can do this from the Hospital Manager search tab or the Emergency Register search tab. You can get there quickly by pressing the magnifying glass icon in the top right of the screen. Type the tag number of the patient into the search box or enter other search criteria and hit enter.
When the results are displayed click the release button to initiate a release
Click the icon in the red circle to start a release
STEP 2: Enter details of the release
The image below shows the most basic release.
There are options for adding further details into the release process, such as by selecting Specific staff. The details of each set of fields is outlined below.
Request details
Requested user: This defaults to the current logged in user, however any user that has the Release Manager job type.
Request time: This is the time the release was requested, useful for determining how long it takes to release a patient from the sheltr
Caller note details
It is possible to add special instructions for the caller without making these details required.
Sliding the special instructions slider will make the notes section required and turn the release into a 'release with special instructions'
Specific staff
You can select specific staff for the release. Examples for this would be where the release staff also carried out the rescue and knows the area the patient came from, or selecting a releaser who knows callers in the release area.
StreetTreat details
There are 2 different types of release that include StreetTreat.
A release that has later StreetTreat visits (Release with StreetTreat)
This type of release is where a normal release team will carry out the release, but at a later time (maybe next day, maybe days later) the StreetTreat will carry out a visit.
A release that has a StreetTreat visit on the same day as the release (StreetTreat release)
This is where the the StreetTreat team will carry out the release and at the same time as the release will do the first visit.
When checking this box the StreetTreat details will be required. A panel will show displaying the StreetTreat case entry form.
The StreetTreat form allows the user to add StreetTreat case details for the current release. This includes the ability to add visits to the StreetTreat case as well. A case can be added without any visits, this case would then appear in the No Visits list in the StreetTreat app for the default StreetTreat ambulance, requiring visits to be added.
This slider determines whether or not the caller has already been informed of the pending release.
After the above steps have been taken to add a new release, then the release will appear on the Outstanding Case board waiting to be assigned to a vehicle
The release details form on the Outstanding Case Board
Once the release has been added for a patient then it will display on the Outstanding Case Board waiting to be assigned to a vehicle. Once it is assigned the release will then display in the Driver View and drivers will then be able to manage the case.
The release is tracked in a similar way to a rescue. The release details form can be used to add the below details:
Ambulance assignment time: This is the time the release is assigned to an ambulance. Vital for determining how long it took for the ambulance to pick up the patient for release.
Assigned vehicle: This is the ambulance the case is assigned to. Rescue dispatchers should pay attention to the release type as this is where any specific staff for the release will be displayed, which the dispatcher should use when assigning the release to a vehicle.
Pickup time: This is when the release team picked the animal up from the shelter/
Release begin time: This is time the release team begins the release process. This time is vital for determining how long the patient spent in the ambulance awaiting release.
Release end time: The time the release was complete and the release team were ready for their next task. Vital for determining how long the release process takes.
As the release progresses through the different stages it will move across the outstanding case board.
