There are 2 different types of case that can appear on the outstanding case board: rescues, and releases.
Apoms has the ability for multiple operators (clients) to use the system simultaneously, which each different client sending messages to the other clients when updates take place to ensure all outstanding cases are always up to date without having to manually refresh any pages. As cases are updated they will automatically move across the outstanding case board without operators needing to constantly refresh.
Rescue
Rescues are oustanding cases where an animal or animals (one case can have multiple animals) require assistance from ambulance staff. This assistance could be being rescued from a ditch/well or being trapped in a fence, to being admitted to the shelter with a wound or other injury.

The Rescue details button will display a form showing the details of the rescue and clicking the Edit case button with open the case form for this particular case.
Rescues can be in a number of different states:
Unassigned - This case has come into the system, but has not been assigned to a vehicle as yet. This could because the operators are still waiting for further information.
Assigned - The operators have no assigned this case to an ambulance. For this to occur staff must be assigned to a vehicle. You can read more about this in the Vehicle Staff Assignment section.
Arrived - The ambulance has arrived at the scene of the rescue and their assessment will now begin.
Rescued - This is when the rescue is complete and the animal has been loaded into the ambulance.
Admitted - The animal is now admitted to the shelter and has been handed over to shelter medical staff. This rescue is now complete
Releases
Releases are on a patient basis; unlike rescues that can have multiple patients, a release only contains one patient. A release patient must have already been admitted to the shelter, it is not possible to add a release for a patient that does not have a patient outcome of Admission or StreetTreat.

A release can be in a number of different states:
Unassigned - The rescue has been given by the shelter medical staff and entered into Apoms.
Assigned - The rescue has been picked up by the emergency case operators and has been assigned to a vehicle.
Picked up - The assigned ambulance has arrived at the shelter and has picked up the patient that is ready for release.
Released - The ambulance has reached the release location and carried out the release of the animal
